ON Only – Setting Lowest Cost Alternative Price for Drug Benefit Prescriptions
The Use LCA for Eligibility Price preference located in More > Pharmacy (bottom-right corner) allows you to select whether you want to use the Drug Benefit Price (DBP) or the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care Price (MOHLTC) for Drug Benefit prescriptions.
Note: The MOHLTC price is called LCA (Lowest Cost Alternative) in PharmaClik Rx.
By selecting the checkbox, the Prov$ field in the drug folder will be updated with the LCA price from ODB. If this checkbox is not selected, the Prov$ field in the drug folder will be updated using the DBP price from ODB. You can change the LCA pricing preference anytime by selecting or deselecting the preference checkbox.
Viewing Pricing in the Drug Folder
The drug folder DIN tab displays which price is being used (LCA or DBP):
- If the DBP price is being used, you will see (D) beside the Prov% field.
- If the MOHLTC price is being used, you will see (L) beside the Prov% field.
Recommended Setting for Acquisition Cost Prompt
The Acquisition Cost Prompt preference (More > Pharmacy > Rx Detail) is recommended to be set to Always Prompt. This will ensure when there is a difference in pricing between ELI and acquisition cost (ACQ) that is greater than 8%, the prompt to add markup (or MI) will be displayed.
Viewing Pricing Differences in PharmaClik Rx
The drug folder’s Alternatives tab has added a new column called Lowest Cost Alternative where you can see the price of the Lowest Cost Alternative for the interchangeable group, in comparison with the ELI (Drug Benefit Price).
